The vigie on the island of Port Cros where the poet Richard Aldington stayed in 1928 with his partner of ten years and his new lover, along with D.H. Lawrence and his wife Frieda. It was here that Aldington started to write his novel of the war, 'Death of a Hero'.

FlyerTaking place a hundred years after the death of the most famous poet of the First World War, the conference will provide the opportunity for delegates to explore the lasting impact of Wilfred Owen’s work.  Keynote speakers will be Professor Douglas Kerr from the University of Hongkong, Professor Daniel Hipp from the University of Aurora, Illinois, Dr. Santanu Das of King’s College, London and Dr. Kate Kennedy of Wolfson College, Oxford.

The week-end will include a concert to premier a new work dedicated to Wilfred Owen by the composer Tim Watts.  The organisers are grateful to the Western Front Association for providing the funds to make this possible.
